In this two-hour workshop led by Kathleen Byrd, we’ll use visual images as writing prompts. We’ll start with reading and discussing a selection of ekphrastic poems to discover a variety of forms and strategies for writing ekphrastic poems. Then, we’ll write our own poems in response to images. You are welcome to bring an image of your own — a photograph, drawing or postcard, for example — but a variety of images will be provided for impromptu poetry writing. We’ll close by sharing and discussing our writing.
Everyone welcome, no RSVP necessary. Please note: Browsers events take place upstairs and we do not have an elevator.
