Local Author Talk: Frank Hesketh

Please join us as we welcome local author Frank Hesketh to the shop! He will be presenting on his very first, and recent novel A Power Awakens.

About The Book
Mouse explores a richly woven Age of seers, senders, prophets, Principle Families and powerful Ladies. Fighting to remain visible, he hides his ability to see into the minds of others — the myriad manifestations of thoughts, emotions, regrets and the smoldering complexities of human betrayal. As a new Evil sweeps the landscape it twists human minds into a horrifying compliance. Hope for the Age lies in the choices Mouse is reluctant to make. He must give up his anonymity and channel his powers to join with forces beyond any he has known. Together their combined strength and summoned allies may yet defeat the unremitting, overwhelming advance of Evil. We learn much about the intricacies of humans’ minds and their secret interactions as we join Mouse on his vital mission of love, compassion and salvation.

About Frank
Frank Hesketh lives in Olympia Washington with his darling wife. He tried too many careers to enumerate but a partial list includes dairy hand, road maintenance worker, truck driver, warehouse supervisor, Editor in Chief of a weekly newspaper, book store manager, IT professional, and psychotherapist. He drank too hard, played too much, chased his tail, chased after tales, and eventually found it less painful to change than not. So he changed—grew up (sort of)—and found that life for a grownup can be just as fun as for a kid.

A Power Awakens is Frank Hesketh’s first published novel. He was drawn to Mouse when he began writing the first scene. This was to be another short story but the character had some quality that intrigued the author so he joined Mouse on his full journey, deciding to stay for the full tale, learning more about the Eastern Realm along the way. Frank hopes his readers will feel the same draw to Mouse, will choose to embrace the characters, allowing this world to unfold in their imagination. In reading as in our world we can choose to experience with curiosity and eagerness each chapter and experience we encounter, letting the mysteries around us unfold.
